Changsha MSW treatment plant is located in the north of Changsha, with a straight-line distance of 35km from city center. This treatment plant is the only comprehensive collaborative MSW treatment plant in Changsha, which undertakes treatment of MSW from "six districts and one county", municipal sludge from 13 municipal sewage treatment plants and all leachate in reservoir area. There are two functional units: landfill and incineration unit.

"Pretreatment + anaerobic reactor (UASB) + external MBR + nanofiltration (NF) + reverse osmosis (RO)" is adopted for treatment of high concentration leachate; "coagulation sedimentation + A/O + internal MBR" is adopted for treatment of domestic sewage; "coagulation floatation + multi-media filtration + RO" is adopted for treatment process of low concentration inorganic sewage; and "landfill leachate treatment process is mainly adopted "external MBR + NF +RO".

After the landfill leachate treatment, it meets the discharge standard in Table 2 of Pollution Control Standard for MSW landfill (GB16889-2008), and effluent from three sewage systems in incineration plant meets the water quality standard for supplementary water of open circulating water system specified in Industrial Water Quality for Urban Sewage Recycling (GB / t19923-2005).
